Gender Pay Gap Report 2026
Canonium Learning Trust is committed to ensuring fairness, transparency and equality across our workforce. As the Trust employs more than 250 colleagues, we are required to publish an annual Gender Pay Gap Report.
Our report is based on the statutory snapshot date of 31 March 2026. It shows that:
Women represented 86.8% of Canonium's workforce.
The mean gender pay gap was 36.3%.
The median gender pay gap was 51.2%.
These figures reflect the composition of our workforce, rather than men and women being paid differently for the same work. Primary education is a predominantly female profession, particularly across teaching assistant, nursery, midday supervision, administrative and other school support roles. Canonium's workforce closely reflects this national picture.
Women are strongly represented throughout the Trust, including in teaching, headship and Trust leadership, and they form the majority in every pay quartile. However, because women also make up the vast majority of our larger support workforce, while our much smaller male workforce is proportionately more concentrated in teaching, leadership and senior operational roles, the overall averages produce a gender pay gap.
A gender pay gap is not the same as unequal pay. Canonium applies nationally and locally agreed pay frameworks, with pay determined by role, responsibility, grade and contractual arrangements, not by sex.
We encourage you to read our full report, which explains the statutory calculations, provides further context for the published figures and sets out the actions the Trust will continue to take to promote fairness, opportunity and career progression across our workforce.
It is a requirement of the Academy Trust Handbook for trusts to publish any off payroll payments over £100,000. For example, where the trust has entered into an off-payroll arrangement with someone who is not an employee.
For the previous year ending 31st August 2025:
There have been no off payroll payments over £100k
