School-led wraparound care at Canonium Schools

Start, Stay and Play is Canonium Learning Trust's school-led wraparound care offer, providing high-quality breakfast club, after-school club and holiday club provision across our family of schools.

Designed around the needs of children and families, Start, Stay and Play helps schools provide safe, familiar and enriching environments before school, after school and during the school holidays.

Run by schools, for their local communities, our wraparound provision gives children opportunities to play, socialise, relax, be active, develop new interests and build positive relationships with trusted adults in a setting they know well.

Our aim is simple: to support working families with reliable, affordable and high-quality childcare while helping children flourish beyond the school day.

Every School is Different 

Canonium Learning Trust recognises that each school serves a unique community with different needs, levels of demand and local circumstances.

For this reason, the use of the Start, Stay and Play framework is flexible. Schools may choose to offer START, STAY, PLAY, or any combination of these services depending on local demand and operational viability.

Schools regularly review participation levels, parental feedback and community need when considering changes or additions to their wraparound provision. In line with the Trust's Wraparound Care Policy, any expansion of services will be carefully considered to ensure provision remains sustainable, high-quality and responsive to the needs of children and families.

A School-Led Approach

Unlike many commercial childcare providers, Start, Stay and Play is delivered by schools themselves. This means provision is shaped around the needs of children and families rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

Children remain in a familiar environment, supported by trusted adults who understand the school's routines, safeguarding arrangements and values. Any surplus generated through the provision is reinvested directly into supporting children, families and educational opportunities within our schools.
